Privacy

Short version: conversions happen on your device. Two optional AI tools send data only when you press their button. There are no accounts and no database.

Tools that never send your file

All converters and PDF editors, from JPG to PDF to Compare documents, run in your browser. The page downloads the conversion code; your file is read from your disk into the tab’s memory, converted, and handed back to you as a download. It is not transmitted, and it is gone when you close the tab.

The two tools that use an AI model

  • OCR PDF: when you press Read text, each page you chose is sent as a compressed JPEG (about 1900 px on the long side).
  • PDF summarizer: the file is read on your device; when you press Summarise or Ask, the extracted text (at most 60,000 characters) and your question are sent. You can view that text before sending.

These requests go over HTTPS to our server function on Vercel, which forwards them through Vercel AI Gateway to an OpenAI model and streams the answer back. Docrift does not store or log the content. The model provider processes it under its API terms for that request. If a document must not reach any third party, do not use these two tools; the rest of the site is unaffected. To prevent abuse, requests are counted per IP address in temporary memory for a few minutes.

Analytics

We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to count page views. It does not use cookies and does not collect personal data or anything about your files.

Stored in your browser

Nothing. Docrift does not use cookies or localStorage, so there is nothing to clear.

Docrift was previously called DocuSwift. It is an independent free tool, not affiliated with Adobe, Microsoft or any of the open-source projects it uses (pdf.js, pdf-lib, mammoth, SheetJS, docx, libheif, jsdiff, fflate).
