Convert documents without handing them over

JPG to PDF, PDF to Word, Word to PDF, Excel to PDF and 20 more tools. Your files are converted by your own browser, so a payslip, passport scan or contract never sits on someone else’s server.

What “no upload” actually means here

Most online converters send your file to their servers, convert it there and send it back. Docrift ships the converters to you instead: when a page loads, your browser downloads open-source libraries such as pdf.js (Mozilla’s PDF engine), pdf-lib, mammoth for Word files and SheetJS for spreadsheets. Conversion then happens in memory on your phone or computer.

You can check it yourself: load a tool, turn on airplane mode, and convert a file. It still works.

Two tools are different, and they say so on the page. OCR PDF sends page images, and the PDF summarizer sends extracted text, to an AI model, only after you press their button. Nothing is stored. The privacy page spells out the details.

Which conversions are exact, and which are rebuilt

Images to PDF, merging, splitting, rotating and deleting pages are exact: pages and pictures are copied as they are. PDF to image is exact at the resolution you choose.

PDF to Word and PDF to Excel are reconstructions. A PDF records where each piece of text sits, not which lines make a paragraph or a table cell, so every converter has to infer that structure. Word and Excel to PDF are re-laid out with a clean standard font rather than printed by Microsoft Office. How conversion works shows the difference with a page you can resize yourself.
